History
The word “yoga,” from the Sanskrit “Yuj” meaning “to unite,” or “to join” or “to yoke”. As per Yogic scriptures the practice of Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the universal consciousness, indicating a harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature. In September 2014, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed International Yoga Day at the UN, highlighting yoga’s unifying impact. On December 11, 2014, the UN declared yoga day celebrated on June 21 as International Yoga Day, aligning with the summer solstice to symbolize light and prosperity.
